Protesters outside Scottish Parliament on 5 September 2024 in response to Creative Scotland announcing its decision on 19 August to abolish its fund for individual arts professionals due to funding constraints from the Scottish government; an announcement was made late on 4 September that the fund would be reinstated, however there are ongoing concerns about the future of arts funding in Scotland. International premiere of 'Paradisum', the latest work by Hungarian cirque danse company Recirquel, at Edinburgh's Assembly Roxy venue on 1 August 2024 as part of Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Directed and choreographed by Bence Vági, Paradisum is performed by Demissie Efraim, Ádám Fehér, Yevhen Havrylenko, Ivett Ignácz, Kateryna Larina, Andrii Maslov, Sergii Materynskyi and Eszter Seguí-Fábián, with costume design by Emese Kasza, set design by Bence Vági and Emese Kasza, sound by Gábor Terjék and lighting design by Attila Lenzsér.

The Playground is an initiative by Rambert dancer Simone Damberg Würtz and former Rambert dancer Julia Gillespie, offering the independent dance community monthly opportunities to participate in a monthly creative lab, with multiple workshops led by dance and music practitioners, held in Rambert's studios. This was a fundraising evening organised by the Ceilidh Collective and Bespoke Organic Events with The Greater Spotted Ceilidh Band to raise funds for Medical Aid for Palestine. Guest speakers included local MP Tommy Sheppard.

Cirqulation is Scotland’s only ongoing contemporary circus cabaret night showcasing new acts by established and emerging circus artists, and is produced by Delighters. Power was the theme for this edition of Cirqulation, held on 24 March at the Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh, and featured eleven pieces, and was compered by Tim Licata, who later presented a magic act.

Something Smashing, an Edinburgh-based dance and music improvisation group, returned with a new performance at Meadowbank House on 2 March 2024, featuring performance sets with Alma Lindenhovius, Dylan Read, Neena Dhillon, Chris Lyons, Allan Wylie, Stephanie Arsoska, Nicky Haire, Luca Vaccari, Graeme Wilson, Alex South, Molly Danter, Tess Letham, Beth Edwards, Sky Su, Brian John and Marion Kenny.

One way of dealing with bereavement is to turn the roof terrace into a buffet for wee birds, especially during this Covid-19 lockdown. My mother wanted to upgrade her iPhone so she can take better photos of the birds, so I've been on standby with my camera to take these photos of the passing birds for her.
